Singer, Songwriter and Author Marshall Chapman to Perform at Library’s Fall Into the Arts 2013 Event

Gwinnett County Public Library will host singer, songwriter and author Marshall Chapman as part of its Fall Into The Arts 2013 program. Her songs have been recorded by artists ranging from Emmylou Harris and Joe Cocker to Irma Thomas and Jimmy Buffett. Chapman will perform in concert on Saturday, October 5, 2013, with a book signing following the concert.

Gwinnett Envirnmental and Heritage Center Foundation Donates $26,000 to Gwinnett County

The Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center Foundation is providing a $26,000 donation to Gwinnett County in the form of a new concession trailer (valued at $16,000) and a $10,000 monetary donation toward the purchase of a passenger tram. This effort meets the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners initiative to reduce costs by enhancing revenue opportunities and improving the quality of life for its citizens.

Two GCPS schools named STEM Education Awards finalists

The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG), the state’s leading association dedicated to the promotion and economic advancement of Georgia’s technology industry, today announced that two schools from Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) have been named finalists for the 2013 Georgia STEM Education Awards. Benefield Elementary, in the Berkmar Cluster, was named a finalist in the “Best Georgia STEM Day Activity” category, while Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology (GSMST), a system charter school, was honored in the “Classroom Technology” category.

Gwinnett County Public Library to Celebrate the Local Artists as Part of the Plein Air Challenge

Gwinnett County Public Library will host a reception and award ceremony honoring local artists as part of this year’s Fall Into The Arts series. In partnership with Tannery Row Artist Colony and Gwinnett Parks and Recreation, the celebration recognizes artists who participated in the second annual Plein Air Art Challenge. Paintings created this year in public parks throughout Gwinnett County will be on display at Tannery Row Artist Colony where winners will be chosen at a reception on Saturday, September 14th, 2013. The reception will take place from 3:00-7:00 PM; the awards ceremony will be held at 5:00 PM. Light refreshments will be served and music will be provided by Gwinnett School of Music.
